Below you will find the rules of the Track Title Belt fantasy league:

1. The World and US belts can be lost in a straight defeat by another runner. They do not change hands if the current champion is disqualified, does not start a scheduled race, or fails to finish a race for any reason.

2. Belts cannot be lost in preliminary or qualification heats – finals only.

3. The title belts can not be won when racing a title holder in their non-title distance/discipline. This exclusion applies to the indoor short sprints and hurdles for the 100m and 100/110h title holder, as well as the open 3000m for 3000m steeplechase champions, for example. However, the 1500m belts can change as the result of a non-road mile race. 

4. A title holder forfeits his or her title when banned from competition due to a failed drug test. Track Title Belt will determine the next international event that will serve as the at-large title contest for that belt.

5. A title holder also forfeits his or her title if it is not defended at least once every 75 days between March 1 and September 30. After that time, Track Title Belt will determine the next international event that will serve as the at-large title contest for that belt.

6. The US belts can only be lost to another US citizen.

7. Belts cannot be lost due to a DNS (Did Not Start) result in a race, but they can be lost with a result of either DNF (Did Not Finish) or a disqualification. The only exception would be a disqualification due to a false start, in which case the title belt would remain the champion’s.
